Another doc of David Attenborough... At first, kind of boring... The
king penguins, polar bear... Then something amazing... the snow leapard
hunting in the steep mountain... more, the pirahna. The crew looked for
the famous fish in the Hollywood movies for a while. the cameraman just
felt disappointed, no scared feeling at all. In desperate, they
searched at night. Found some caymans, got lifted spirit. shoot within
2 feet. (just watched a crocadile dragging a wildebeest into the river
in Africa) Some wounded fishermen show them the spot. Finally found the
shoal. the cameraman just wouldn't believe and jump into the water.
finish one wounded fish in seconds. And the cameraman shooting in them
without any protection, just push away the fishes close to the bare
hands. Those guys are crazy.

Well, Sarah got approved already with no phone interview. They already sent the claim check. It only took a week.

I thought it would take way longer like 4-6 weeks before they responded.

The only part that is confusing is it says that she must look for full time work every week and references the handbook. When you look in the handbook that is all it says. It doesn't say if there is a minimum number of jobs you have to apply for or anything like that.

The last time I got UE the instructions were very clear and what I had to each week.

Can anyone shed some light on this? Do they even follow up on where you apply?

unless they check a box that say you must provide reference, don't worry about it.

Hey- sorry to hear about your shit luck sarah but that's cool you got approved- I found a couple sites on a real quick search that might be helpful if anyone else needs to file for unemployment. I haven't really gone through them extensively, so they may or may not be helpful..but there's gotta be at least some useful info on there..
http://www.statepay.com/unemployment/service/file-for-unemployment
http://jobsearch.about.com/od/unemployment/a/fileunemploy.htm
http://www.ehow.com/how_4844767_file-unemployment-california.html
and yeah, they don't make you get anything signed by potential employers you're applying to unless you've been on UE a really long time..

Well, you check a box that says you are looking for work and if you check that box it asks you to list where you applied on the back and who you contacted. I'm sure normally you would just put "HR Dept" as that's where resumes usually go. It would suck if they follow up on it and a clueless HR Dept tells them they never heard of you.

When I got UE I didn't have to do any of that. All I had to do was log into CalJobs once a week.

if they check up on it, i'm sure it's not done terribly thoroughly. even if they tried, some places probably wouldn't give out any info to the edd anyway, since there's no signed release/consent between you, the edd, and the place you're applying for.

i just fill out the back with ten jobs for the two week period and send it in. sometimes i just put stuff like "sent resume through craigslist ad" and that seems to work fine

I figured as much. The booklet says that the claim form is scanned by a machine that then generates the checks so I figure the only time anyone will look at it is if there is an audit on a specific person. They probably have way to much going on to bother with that stuff right now.

Oh shit- that's cool- I thought they made you get something signed at the places you applied to after you were on it for a long time- maybe not in California though..People on UE used to come into my work a long time ago and apply for shit they knew they wouldn't get just to get the signatures..but maybe that was for something else..That's good to know.

So do you have to show you applied for 10 jobs? Nothing in the documentation says that there is a minimum and I can't find anything online.

Sarah needs to signup on caljobs and post a resume, I think she has one month to do it. They also check to make sure you are active on there, I think its one search a month or they start bothering you. http://www.caljobs.ca.gov/Then on my claim checks I always put searched for work and on the back I put applied on craigslist, monster and newspaper ads, etc. and put no response or no qaulified work.

They didn't mark any checkboxes. It says CalJobs registration is required and the exact words "You must look for full time work each week" while refrening the handbook.

The handbook says that if you answer yes to the "did you look for work" question then you have to list the jobs you applied at.

That is the only information they gave.
