PostSubject: Unemployment Question   March 14th 2009, 12:11 am

I just submitted my application for unemployment.

When they call for the phone interview what kind of questions do they ask? Basically what do I need to say to them to make sure I won't get denied?

Thanks.

It's really straightforward. They just asked what I did, why I was no longer at my job and if I can accept employment if offered. There were a few other things because I was part-time, but obviously that wouldn't apply to you. I never found myself having to lie or be deceptive and they've been throwing money at me for years.

Oh yeah my answers were just that I got laid off when the mortgage industry tanked and that I could accept work if offered. You'll only have to get creative if you left your past job voluntarily or under ambiguous terms.

you just go back to the site and apply again like you did the first time. edd has been sending me letters in the mail after my claims run out telling me that i'm eligible for more money and to just go back on the site and fill out the form again. it seems weird that there's no actual reapplying process and you just keep submitting the same form, but that's just how they do it i guess.

do you have to wait another month before the checks start rolling in again? that last time was hell.

You can get unemployment even when you've been fired and not laid off?

Yeah you can. The question is what should you say about it in the phone interview? I think I have an idea of what could work.

That yes, I was fired, but the company had a policy where if you messed up three times in six months you were let go. However, the three mistakes I made were spread out over 5 months, and the three mistakes I made all had nothing to do with each other and were completley different things. Also, my attendance was never an issue.
