It's just going to become like Guitar Hero which I stopped playing at 3.

the cod series is no different than madden, tiger woods, or any number of yearly installments of whatever sports game you choose to waste money on. i buy the woods series. if there were a decent, user friendly baseball game, other than the shithouse that is the bigs; i'd do the same. the pga series has lost it's appeal to me with it's boring, repetitive, and near impossible challenges. baseball games are out of my wheel house due to their ever increasingly difficult control scheme. they have now become a buy next year when the latest one comes out, kinda game. so when cod starts down that path, i'm sure it will live up to my analogy. but for now the game is still fun, and the new one looks to follow the same lead, and can simply be received as a yearly expansion, or a much needed update, with new maps.

Yeah except it's different then sports games. This is more like Guitar Hero where they kept milking it with shittier games using the same "formula"

This one just looks a cheaper version of the current one. Maybe it wasn't going to be $60 I might be more interested but that will never happen.

I might get this, but I doubt it. I have a feeling it would be like WAW where I ended up trading it 2 weeks later.

That camera spike shit looks like it would be annoying as fuck.

Hopefully, there is a "do not join game in progress option" or at least have it so it doesn't drop you into games in progress that are so far gone there is nothing you can do.

MW2 does this constantly and likes to drop me in the same game many times in a row. Even if I wait a few minutes it will find a way to throw me in the same game.

If I don't have a group it can take a half hour just to find a game that hasn't already started.

You would think that with so many people playing this wouldn't happen.

It wasn't so bad in COD4.

That's pretty much what I have to do to avoid it.

I have to sit and watch the recent players list until that game becomes not joinable anymore.

Once I do that I get thrown into another game in progress on the losing team, where the game is almost over, there is a chopper gunner and AC130 up, and I get to start all over again.

What's the big deal about not having a "don't join in progress option" or at least have the game be smart enough to not do shit like throw you into a game where the nuke counter is already going off?

Halo doesn't allow people to join in progress why shouldn't COD do the same? Especially in FFA. Since there aren't teams there is no reason to ever have to join a game in progress.

Shit is stupid.

It actually looks pretty decent.

I still don't like the feel of it like the character animations and stuff like that but it's not a big deal.

So far, it seems like they are making an effort to get fix all the annoying things.

I think they should have made the knife something you have to equip rather then having the panic knife like they do now but oh well.

the characters models do look awful. they are using an enhanced version of iw4, which is friggin old, and it shows.

that aside though, i like the idea of currency for unlocks other than leveling to unlock weapons you will never use.

the game modes do look fun. games were you start with one bullet, one knife and earn ammo as you get kills. the knife, crossbow, and tomahawk only match looks fun.

customizable carepackages - you can load one with a chaingun. woot.

Tac Inserts are being disabled for Free For All modes and you can cancel the insert in the killcam so people can't sit there and camp your insert anymore cat

Or they can keep it, but set the matchmaking up so it looks for fresh lobbies with a good connection first and if it can't find any then it can put you in a game in progress. It seems like with the current one, it just looks for a good host and once one is found it tries to join the game regardless if it's in progress or already over.

holy crap. big news with this one. online split screen multiplayer. woot.

http://www.callofdutyfaq.com/call-of-duty-black-ops-splitscreen-online-multiplayer-confirmed-no-co-op-campaign/

Quote :

For many, one of Call of Duty: World at War's biggest draws was its online co-op campaign - aside from the zombies of course.

In what many may see as a backwards move and totally against the mantra of "sequels should be more of the same, but better," it appears that Call of Duty: Black Ops will not feature a co-operative campaign.

Speaking with GamertagRadio, Treyarch's Executive Producer on Black Ops, Dan Suarez, told the site that the co-operative campaign wouldn't be making a comeback this year.

"There’s no campaign co-op this year," said the EP, who's obviously a man of few words.

It's not all doom and gloom though, as the EP did state that there will be two player split-screen multiplayer this year for the first time in the franchise's history.

"Yes, you can play split-screen on the combat training mode and on MP (multiplayer)," said the talkative Suarez.

The combat training mode incidentally is you - and a friend if you like - against bots and is there for players to get a feel for the muliplayer side of things.

Is this likely to affect your purchase? Was the removal of the co-op campaign a deal-breaker? Does the split-screen multiplayer even that out? Are there such things as aliens? Why is the Premiership such a one horse race this year? Where did I put that pen again?

So many questions and only you can answer them... well, apart from the last one. I'll have to discover the answer to that on my own.

I hope they bring Commando back so people can still knife you up an entire flight of stairs and teleport 40 feet through shotgun bullets.

That is my favorite.

I saw some video someone leaked from the beta and the animations don't look as strange as they did in the early ones. It pretty much looks like MW2.
