PostSubject: Padres   July 25th 2010, 1:29 am

i know they are over achievers but holy shit, they could have home field advantage through out the play-offs and at the world series. they have never had that opportunity.

the last 2 times they won the division, they were down 2 games before they had their first home playoff game.
when they got swept in 98, many say that 98 yankee team was the best team ever in modern day baseball.

i hope they make a move for a big bat to put behind gonzalez. chris young should be back for the stretch run. we defiantly need a healthy eckstein for the end run.

if they have home field advantage and play most of their games at petco; their pitching, speed and timely hitting can keep them in it just as it has to this point. They have the best record in the NL. that is saying something at this point in the season.

1 more big bat and no major injuries, they can do it.

i don't get to watch many games since they're not usually on tv up here, but i look at the box scores everyday and check out the splits and projections usually once a week and theirs is an offense that is garbage. i got to see last night's game and the bases loaded with no outs inning that ended with no runs scored is the numbers i see put into action.

it seems they have had a lot of luck to this point and there is no discounting luck, especially in the post-season. however, they have a tough stretch going in to the end of the season. they play 30 games in the last 31 days of the season. if they start slumping, it could kill them. and the offensive weaknesses i think will be exploited if they don't make moves, especially if the other teams in the division bulk up their offense. the dodgers, rockies and giants are all very much in the hunt and capable of adding payroll if it means they might win the division.

Another big thing against them is their young arms. It is going to be very tough for these guys to go into post season with healthy arms.

Yes, I'm saying it. bring in Milton Bradley and another top arm.
